Notice to tenants

My mother has tenants in her rental property. They have been there six months and have renewed for another six months. She has decided that she would like to sell but apparently as there is no break clause she cannot give notice to them until the end of this next six months.
I had thought you could give notice of 2 months once you are through the first 6 months.
Can anybody please clarify for me.
Thank you.

If there is no break clause then your tenants can stay put until the end of the AST.
You could always strike a deal with them though?0 -
It was the renewal what did it. She could have let them go periodic but because of the renewal it's 6 months. Doesn't mean she can't put it up for sale - it's just only of interest to someone who wants to buy a house with tenants in.0

What poppysarah said. She did not need to renew for 6 months, tenants would probably be happy to go periodic, but now she has renewed, she must wait or buy them out.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Perhaps she could offer them half price rent if they agree to allow viewings and house sale related visits?
(btw, if she chooses to sell with sitting tenants, the tenants are not legally obliged to let people in to look round. they have quiet enjoyment of the property until the end of the tenancy.)Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -

Only if the original contract either went periodic or it was a 12 month contract (or more) with a 6 month break clause.
Other wise it is another fixed term and the clue is in the name!0
