Getting my money from First Direct

Hi

I have a First Direct e-savings account where I have put the proceeds of my house sale . We will soon be exchanging on our new house and will need to get at this money.

The sum involved is over £160000 . I am wondering if I will be able to transfer this money to my solicitors account from the website. When we tried to transfer it from Barclays they said it was above there limit .

Can anyone tell me if I will be able to transfer it simply from the website or will I have to speak to customer services / go into a branch of HSBC ??

I would look on there website but it is RUBBISH and there online customer support is non existent !

Thanks

Duke.

All online banking interfaces have some form of limit for security purposes. I would imagine that 160k is over the limit. Even if they use a high one, I can't imagine it being that high.
I don't know the limit (barclays is 1k), but it is quite likely you'll have to call them.

I have transfered large amounts (also for house purchase) from First Direct without any problem. Go online and enter the details of the transfer in the usual way. If it is over their security limit you will get a message saying you have to call them to complete the transfer so that they can verify security details. This is obviously good sense and in my case the phone calls were completed without problems. You can only transfer however, to your nominated current account.

You need to do this in advance of when you need the funds though because you need to withdraw the funds on the first day of the month otherwise you will lose all interest for the month in which you make the withdrawal. I transfered in advance to a lower interest rate savings account but which had no restrictions on withdrawals.

    Hope this helps.
That may have been what I said but what meant was.....
