Which Bank accounts don't charge when you go overdrawn?

For example, with my HSBC account, going a few £pounds overdrawn results in no charge as far as I have ever been able to understand. Also, HSBC (very kindly) always allowed debits to be taken even if it meant going overdrawn. Nice or what!
(It was a 16-17 yr olds account that graduated into a normal(?) account when I was turned 18)

However, I also have a Nationwide account, which I opened last year, and bouncing a direct debit hits me with a £30 charge AND the debit doesn't go through. Ouch.

I am thinking of getting a Halifax easycash account. Does anyone have a Halifax account that went overdrawn? What happened?

You can not go overdrawn with the Halifax Easycash account (generally). Instead, you'll be charged £15 for each payment that you request, that isn't paid (up to three times a day).

If you open the Reward account, then up to £10 overdraft is free. Pay in £1k per month, and you'll get a fiver back at the start of the following month as well.

Halifax Easycash account T&C's: https://www.halifax.co.uk/Easycash/pdf/HalifaxEyTandC.pdf (you can read here for more details about being overdrawn and other things)

Not sure about other banks though. Read the T&C's on the bank's website.
