Shell...Wrongly charged for someone elses petrol!!!

Hi People just looking for some benchmarks, my friend has wrongly been charged for someone elses fuel in a Shell garage and he signed and payed mistakenly paying £30.00 too much , needless to say the other guy had a real result cos he payed 30 quid light of what he should of done. Anyway, 1 day later he realised the mistake and returned to the garage only to be told by the cashier a load of fob off stories and given no help at all, looking for some direction with this any help much appreciated.:D

Not sure exactly how far you can go with this. Your friend signed and accepted the charge?

Can they not check back on car numbers etc that were on the forecourt at the time and so long as your friend knew exactly which filler he was taking his fuel from surely they could do that. Just need the time exactly that he was on the forecourt and they could check back.

His credit card company may do something about it, so long as it is over a certain amount, £50 or £100 I think. Worth a shot.

thats exactly what i suggested smiley mum, apparently he did just that but the "management" are basically fobbing him off by the sounds of it because they cannot be arsed, i think he needs to contact Shell Franchising for some leverage thats my best suggestion for him anyway, just wondered if anyone could offer some hands on advice.:D

Contact Trading Standards and tell them that they sold him short of petrol for what he was charged, (as he ended up paying over the odds for his petrol by being inadvertently being charged for someone elses). Tell Trading Standards and they may be able to help. Unfortunately, since having a check around, credit card company will not be able to help unless the bill was £100 or more.

I think I'd be telling them what to do with their Shell Fleetcard if I were him...;)
