Car Purchase help needed.... Please!
Hello MSE!
I have a company car but im looking to get my own car as ill end up paying for something that i will own rather than just renting a car.
My Car allowance currently is free car/insurance/service or £250 allowance.
Im looking to get the best deal on a nearly new car - about £19,000.
With a £2,000 Deposit.
I do about 15,000 - 17,000 miles a year.
Is it possble to get a good deal for this price or am i best to stick?
Also am i better to get a load and then buy the car?
EDIT - I pay for petrol at the moment.
Please help!

From the info you've given I would keep the company car.0

What about getting a cheaper car? £15,000?0

so your gunna give up your company car that has free insurance e.t.c and buy you own wich you will have to insure for home domestic and commuting, and buisiness use (will cost you a fair bit to cover you for all those) £250 allowance for fuel on 17k max a year mileage that wont cover fuel for a fraction of that mileage. then serviceing costs mot and taxing i think your sitting pretty as you are put the 19k away for retirement and enjoy what you have all be it if its a crap company car or you dont like it it's free motoring. if you go ahead and buy a car dont go for expensive excutive cars like bmw merc etc. vauxhaul astra vxr has performance average mpg doesnt cost 19k looks good think their only about 15k brand new the rest of your money could pay up a years insurance tax and fuel!Hello MSE!

For that mileage you'd expect £40 a month for Insurance and the same again to cover all servicing (Tyres etc) so you're left with £170 ish per month, which isn't a lot to get a £19k car.0 -

Stick.
£170 will get you into a fiesta/corsa type car.
To fiinance a £15-£20k car plus insurance and maintenance i reckon you'd be looking at needing at least £350-£400 (guestimation) back from you company to make it worth while.
This is AdrianHi's niche so hopefully he'll spot this thread and be able to give you a better figure.
Any idea on what car you'd want or what car would you be giving up?
Assuming your looking at a PCP the monthly payment can vary dramatically depending on the car as the residual value has a big impact.
If your looking at HP £170pm plus £2k deposit would put you at no more than £11k0
