The French once made decent cars shocker!

Get out of here, so did Skoda, oh fu3k, no, they didn't, sorry

Nissan and honda did once, again (I was wrong ;))

    At the risk, and I've taken this risk before, I will state;

There are no bad branded cars.
All makes get it wrong from time to time, usually with new models.
They always sort it, but sometimes at the expense of the buyer.
All the !!!!! that flies around this and other forums is perpetuated by the one make good, all others bad merchants.

Nail your colours to the flagpole fellas?????:confused::confused:;)
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed
  • Avoid Fiat Punto's, too much chance something will go wrong.
Ford KA's are quite good, look out for rusty sills it has a cam chain but they can snap as well, just less likely.
Best place to get an idea of what to look out for is on the cars fan base forum websites, just search in Google.
For £1000 I would concentrate on how many miles the car has done if possible under 70000, private owners with good service record, avoid cars with boy racer modifications like silly blue led's and fat exhausts.

To be honest for a first car better to go older and spend a bit on repairs than new and spend even more on insurance!

This is not true! Its often cheaper to insure a new car than one several years old.

You are less likely to crash a car which is new and you have paid a lot of money for.

Newer cars have more modern alarms and immobilizers.

New cars are safer for the driver, passengers and third parties when involved in an accident. Parts easily available.

This is why the insurance situation is ridiculous. As it has become so expensive new drivers opt for third party on really old cars which... including ones without ABS or power steering!
