But if you try to make a transfer to an account not in your list or set up a new payee it will ask you to input a raft of random characters from your password before doing anything so not really 'worrying' at all.

If someone already has those details by "keylogging" - they can use random charachters of the password can't they?
Anyway, query is arbitary now for me, as I've moved all the money out of the account now, and will probably close it. Unless *I* can be 100% confident of the system, I'm not going to use it, regardless of their assurances.I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. I fully intend to keep my cash in an account where they take security seriously, which I have now done.

The other possible reason for that is that Abbey will have recorded it as a 'quai cash transaction' and if it was over £300, hey presto you have exceeded you daily ATM limit.
