Mergers of building societies are all the rage.
Have a look at all the building societies [ There are now 63 ... 62 ... 61 ... 60 as the Lambeth .... the Universal and the Mercantile say farewell ]
With £50,000 you can set up quite a lot of Regular Saver Accounts with different building societies. Then add some fixed rate accounts. etc etc...0 -
Also the Alliance and Leicester. Although now a bank ie demutualised there is talk or rather whispers it may be a target of a takeover.:rolleyes:0
