sims 3 on a laptop

Options
I have brought a toshiba laptop for Christmas for my kids, they want sims 3 but I'm not sure it will run, have checked requirements but unfortunately they don't mean alot to me!

So have and intel g4500m games whatever
windows 7 operating system
intel celeron cpu 900 @ 2.2ghz
and 3g ram - which I know is enough!

So any ideas anyone?

It's the graphics that is the deal-breaker here as you need Pixel Shader 2.0 support for the game to work properly. What graphics do you have?
If it has Integrated Graphics it may struggle as Sims 3 needs the minimum, or better, of a (quote) " 128MB video card with support for Pixel Shader 2.0" Read the laptop's specification very carefully.
Always better to get something with a dedicated (separate) graphics card if any modern games are to be played.

  • hmmm my brother did warn me about integrated graphics, might have a look at sims 2 instead, got to be better than sims one :-) and cheaper

Write down your laptop's specifications for easy reference and then compare it to the minimum requirements that are usually printed on the reverse of the box of the game you want.
I have a niggling recollection that you might need pixel shader for Sims 2 also....but some people on Sims forums report that they can play it with integrated graphics.
Try Googling for Sims 2 or Sims 3 forums and reading there.

Finally, do you have any friends who have a copy of either game so you can try it in secret and see if it works? . A good idea would be to make a system restore point before installing and testing, then after fully uninstalling the game, restore to that point you made earlier.

I have a smaller spec toshiba laptop. (Satellite L300) and it runs fine on there. If theres any problems you can alter the graphics in game.

IMO sims 1 is better than sims 2 but sims 3 is definately a game worth getting.

    Hi
There was a posting about the Sims 3 recently with a link so you could check if your computer was compatable. I used it but can`t find it now. We were lucky and the game has worked with daughters HP laptop.
