Hi,
I got a gas and electric bill from our usually supplier but also got another electricity bill from a different company (British gas) I'm not using address to the occupier - no name, just occupier. I've been at this address for 6 months and haven't asked to change supplier and no idea how this "rogue" bill ended up here. Any idea's on how to handle this? (as an aside, in my last place british gas sent bills continuously for about 2 years for gas despite not having gas in the house!! so if i need ot contact them to straighten this out i'm not very confident with their ability to sort problems out!)

Thanks in advance,
Damo

You can't just leave it, Damo, you gotta ring them.
If it has your house number on the bill, could be the previous occupant didn't pay, and BG are trying to recover it from you.
Better still WRITE, if it comes to a court case, you have the proof of denying responsibility.

Was the property with BG when you moved in? If so it could be your bill for the change over period (it takes 28 days to change a properties supplier).

Check the dates on the bill and if you have definately been charged twice for the same period then ring MPAS (I would give you the number but there are different phone numbers depending on which area you are in, do a quick internet search and you will find your local areas number) and ask them who your supplier is. Their word goes so once you have confirmed your supplier ring whoever isn't your supplier and inform them of the mix up, they will double check with MPAS themselves and then close the incorrect account. :D
