husbands debt

hi, i noticed that my husband is getting a lot of post for missing payments on cc's and his overdraft. Am I liable for any of his debt and can they take the house?

Thanks

As long as he has no loans or credit secured against the house then it should be ok.

However should you have any joint accounts then your credit files could be linked through association and his credit will affect yours.

Best thing is to discuss these letters with himand help him where you can by getting everything straight, cause what will affect him ma not directly affect you but will indirectly if you see what i mean.

I have a similar husband. He was a joint owner of the house but after someone secured a charge on the house (without me knowing) he was removed. They could have forced the sale of the house to recover the debt if he hadn't paid. I have checked with a lawyer and you shouldnt be liable for debts soley in his name. My concern is though that if someone pursues the debt and say secures payment by an attachment of earnings order, there may not be any money to pay his half of the bills!

    Hope it helps
