* Electricity detector
(not sure what the technical name is.. I'm after something that tells you if there is an electricity cable before drilling...!)
Thanks in advance!

I have a cheap pipe/electricity cable detector from maplin. I used it the other day when fitting some kitchen units and it did not pick up all of the mains cables, so be warned the cheap ones are not fool proof. Also it does not pick up mains cables when there's no electricity flowing through ithe cable. e.g. an outside light turned off.0

Screwfix would be a good place to start. What do you consider reasonably priced?0

Thanks guys.. well I obviously want it to do what it should but i don't want to spend the earth as it's a stocking filler so about £20 max?0

I bought a Bosch laser level for OH as an early birthday present so it'd be easier and quicker for him to measure up the house we had hoped to buy. House fell through, but he used it to measure up the next one. He's had fun with it. But it was about £85, so probably more than you'd want to pay for a stocking filler.
You might hit lucky at Lidl or Aldi if they do a decorating week?

I totally agree with Andrew-B. There really is no point in buying a cheap laser level. I use a Leica Lino L2. which I brought from SCCS Although I am quite a DIY enthusiast. This product is perhaps more than you would want.
If you want more of a gimmick there are probably loads of products you can find online. If you want something acurate and quaility you are looking at the £100 mark.
hope that helps.
