  • Tescos sell Genius bread, which is amazing stuff. Tastes like real bread but is gluten free.

Doves Farm make gluten free white flour which is as good as any other plain flour.

    Mince pies

    8 oz Dove's Farm flour
    4 oz butter (not marge)
    1 beaten egg
    1 dessertspoon sugar

    1 jar mincemeat

Rub fat into flour. Stir in sugar and bind the mixture with the egg. Add a splash of milk if necessary.

Cut out mince pies and fill with mincemeat. Bake until just turning golden at 170 C
  • I'd talk to your guest about what she likes/doesn't like. I wouldn't worry about doing gluten free for everyone, I'm dairy and corn intolerant and I hate it when a host/hostess insists that everyone has what I have. Just because I have some issues doesn't mean that everyone else has to eat the same.

  • Bisto Best gravy granules in the glass jar is Gluten-free, contains soya instead of wheat. http://www.aahnight.co.uk/
I work in a school catering dept, we have a few children on GF diets and this is what we use, we checked with our supplier first.

Black Farmer sausages are GF too. HTH.
  • Just checked my gravy granules. I have Just Bouillon for red meat which are gf and say so on the back. Haven't had the chicken one but worth checking.
  • hi

I am coeliac, and it will be my first gluten free christmas dinner. I was kinda down about it but I went out yesterday and in marks and spencer they had premium pork and cumberland sausages as well as sausagemeat that were gluten free and also some fresh and frozen stuffing in a few different flavours. Also a set of pigs in blankets (theres two so look at the label one is, one isn't.)

What I would say is that these are not marketed to coeliacs, they 'just happen' to be gluten free, look for a tiny wheatsheaf crossed out on the front there sausages, fresh sausage meat and fresh stuffing are on 3 for a fiver which I didn't think was too bad, as I bought three packs of sausages for cheaper than tescos gluten free range ones! All in all feeling better about it now! Hope this essay helps LOL oh oh also sainsburys has frozen gluten free yorkshires

I always make gluten free "everything" for xmas for my Mum and a friend nearby.

Right now I have the fruit soaking for xmas cakes and mincemeat - all GF/WF. I also made wheat free yorkshire puds in the past as well as pastry etc...

If anyone would like any of the recipes please PM me and I will send them to you. Some of them have taken a while to build up and as others have said not everything is listed as coeliac friendly/Gluten free/Wheat free etc in the shops

I have a gorgeous recipe from Delia Smith for making turkey gravy and we have this every year anyway no matter whom is coming for dinner as it is no different really. There are really good substitutes out there for flours etc...

Don't panic about it - you should not really have to do much to make your dinner friendly for your friend. As a suggestion - how about you try out the recipes slowly over the weeks coming up to xmas so that you feel comfortable with them. That way on xmas day you won't be staring into the pan/dish thinking "should it look like that?"

We usually find that most things do not taste that different. It is not that difficult honest if you tackle things one at a time. What is the thing you are most concerned with? - Gravy/Sausages/Cake/Pud etc... If you want to take time now you could make the Pud and cake now and get them out of the way too.

Please PM me if you want to ask any more. I've been cooking like this since my son was born 5 years ago and believe me if you tackle things one at a time there is no reason why everyone shouldn't have the best dinner ever without stressing you out too much!

You can even make bread sauce now and stick it in the freezer to defrost the day before!

Good Luck and let us know what you find out there in the shops as sometimes you don't notice new things because you stick to what you know!
  • Asda now have a gluten free sausage on sale, it's Dohertys Frozen Gluten Free Sausages "very nice"

my ex was on a gluten free diet. I believe oxo gravy granules are gluten free but I wouldn't swear to it so check first!! Sainsbury's do a GF stuffing mix and tesco do GF sausages. There's a range called something like 'Debbie & Andrews' and they do some GF sausages too.
