Diamond Birght JewelUltra care paint protection?

Hi all, I have just got a good deal on a new car, and I asked for this to be thrown in, and after much debating... they agreed.

I have since been told that its a waste of time, and that it can create swirl marks. Is this the case? I know its £200 to buy so surely it must be good!?

Anyone have any experience with this stuff?

Matt

Have seen some good examples and bad examples Matt. I think the product is pretty good, but its dependant on who applies it. If its a very good valeter, then it should be good. If its a ok/bad one, well.... it can cause more problems.

If they are throwing it in, how about asking them to just do the interior and keeping the kit they give you to apply it yourself. Or, flog the kit on ebay and use that to pay for a good valeter or to buy your own cleaning kit.

I also think a lot depends on how much you car about the paintwork and look of the car. I think 95% of people are probably happy, even with a poor diamondbrite treatment.

Well, as I say, if they are throwing it in I would just go for the interior (which will be fine) and get the kit off them. Nothing lost then.

I can't see them throwing it in unapplied

In all likiehood they won't have any intention of doing it and will be hoping you dont know the difference.

Whenever I, or my family, have been offered this (or similar) as a 'free' extra in the past, they have always given the product instead of applying it. Never had an issue with that.

Had DiamandBrite done on a nearly new car I picked up n 1999. Owned that car for 6.5 years.
Have to say I think it is a good treatment, so much better than supaguard which is a waste of money.
These days I wouldn't pay for treatments like this as I have discovered other sealants I like.
If Diamandbrite is free great, but as said half the job is down to how good the detailer doing it is and how good they are with the buffing machine not introducing swirl marks. Pro. detailers would take day over surface prep. and application charging around £250-£300. Is the dealer going to do that for free?

    It's just a polish innit?

You'd expect any car to be polished, but its amazing how many dealers try to charge extra for this. Last time they tried this with me, I asked what they would do if I didn't want it. They said they wouldn't polish it.
I asked them to say that again, as I must have misheard them as there was no way I would buy a new car that had not been polished.
They said they wouldn't...er,.... hmmm... of course they would polish it just like any other new car they sold.

I prefer Autoglym myself, but you don't usually get a choice as to what polish the dealer uses.

Don't pay for any of these treatments. They're all a rip off IMO, just designed to get the dealer money as the packs cost them about £20 and they charge you over the odds to apply it. They like to give you the impression that if you get the treatment it will last forever, but this is not the case. If you care about how your car looks and want to spend hundreds of pounds look at www.detailingworld.com Also ask the people on that site what they think of the treatment
