Rolling news items on website - how to do

We want to put a news section small box on the front page of our website which might just give a brief one or two lines about recent developments in the organisation, new projects etc. Prob about 3 items on show. The idea being that once a 4th item is added, the oldest one drops off the bottom, you know the kind of thing. The developer (a volunteer) is complaining that this would take hours of programming. I'm wondering if it's possible to get something off the peg, pref free, that would slot into the front page and do this for us. We anticipate adding to it probably monthly, not that much more frequently.
Can anyone help?
Thanks

Thank you, I wonder how I find out what it's written in? I can't see anything on the site. I don't want to ask him as he tends to spit his dummy out when questioned about anything!0 -
Hi,
I have used scripts from Dynamic Drive in the past. Have a look here if javascript will suffice.
Hope that helps,

10 minute solution ...
Use a news scroller that will take an RSS feed as a source
http://coffeecup-rss-news-flash.software.informer.com/
Use a blogging service which has an RSS output for your news items

Just update the blog anytime you want to add a news item.0 -
if he's using php with mysql then it should just be a matter of changing a single line
for example - to select all entries in the news database, the query would be "SELECT * FROM news"
to select the last 3, it would be something along the lines of "SELECT * FROM news ORDER BY date DESC LIMIT 3"Left to Pay/Originally Owed

Joomla is written in PHP. TBH it is hours of programming if you had to do it from scratch, it depends how your website is structured at the moment.matched betting: £879.63
