Come now, you are trying to tell us you've been paying money to an energy supplier and ensuring they have up to date meter readings regularly, yet you've never checked to see whether your were paying too little...or possibly too much?

I bet there's something on standby in your place too. A phone, an oven or microwave clock, etc.

why would i need to ask if i was paying too little when the last time i was they increased my monthly direct debit from £25 to £48? Thought they'd have mentioned it to me.

its really not very time consuming to walk around a 1 bed flat turning all the switches off so nope nothing is left on standby!

Everyone else...thank you for your helpful replies. Hopefully things will become clearer once i recieve the statements!

Without deliberately trying to sound flippant - because mistakes happen, and for the same reason peoiple check till receipts, bank statements and credit files -- when mistakes happen they usaully have a huge impact on people, I know it won't help too much given the current situation - but maybe it'll help in the future.

Your payments, even made by direct debit are a joint responsibility between yourself and your supplier. I'm assuming you have recieved statement that may (or maynot) showing an increasing debit balance or maybe indicating that the readings used have been estimated? These are usually indicators that something isn't quite right!

How is your complaint coming along? Have you requested a copy of their complaints procedure (if not get one)?
