  • I agree, that curry sauce is gorgeous! We've used it while camping, having browned the chicken in a pan first. Really good value xwe paid 4p a jar.
  • Its ok if you like your curry sweet and full of sultanas haha. We added a tin of tomoatoes to ours and some chillies but I could still taste the lingering sultana's - even after I fished all of mine out!

DH uses the basics jar of curry from Sainsburys (9p) and adds a tin of basics pineapple (12p), some chicken (either leftover or bought especially to pop in the curry), tinned mushrooms (49p - although a couple fresh would be cheaper I imagine), and serve it over basics rice. Yummmmmmmmmmmm Instead of poppadoms, we use the basics tortilla chips (19p a bag) and dunk them in the sauce. LOL

On a side note, the Sainsburys basics sweet and sour sauce is quite inexpensive (24p a jar, I think?), and we cook chicken in it, add chopped up (or tinned) carrots and a tin of basics pineapple, and serve over rice, and it's quite tasty.

They are with the other jars of curry but usually right at the bottom and towards the back ,the front row sells pretty quickly :)

In my local Asda (Bletchley) it wasn't with the curries, but the bolognese sauces, which are in another aisle!

We bought three jars about two months ago and after sampling the first, the other two are still in the cupboard. Manky....
