Can anyone advise if these are ok for a NET MD as well as a Hi-MD please?
I've reserved them but not sure if they are compatible.
Also found some in Elgin if anyone is interested?Herman - MP for all!0 -
Its a pitty they cant just use royal mail and post out, its not fair that your local shop has to have stockNice to Save. To save it's ____0

Unfortunately these aren't the 1Gig discs. They are compatible only and like other ordinary MD's can be formatted on a Hi-MD player to store 300Mb.
I got excited about these a few months ago when I thought these were the Hi-MD 1G, but alas no.
I bought a couple of Hi-MD from unbeatable recently at £5.99 each + £1.50 carriage. One of them is faulty :-X

So why are they calling them Hi-MD because as i understand it, if you have a Hi-MD recorder you can format "ordinary" mini-discs to 300Mb0

does look like a bit of a trades description act problem at argos!
If you check the picture closely it has some writing above the "hi-md" wording on the box. I wouldn't mind betting it says "compatible with" which is a bit of a misleading statement in itself as I understand all MDs are compatible with hi-md recorders.
However the giveaway is in the recording time - 13.5h. This just happens to be the max a hi-md recorder can get out of a standard MD. The max it can get out of a real 1GB hi-md disc is 45 hours and there's no mode that produces 13.5 hours either.
A con, no less

Not just a problem at Argos. Dixons tried to sell the same discs to me as Hi-MD.
And yes the pack does say 'compatible with' !0
