claim on ppi firstplus

I made a claim on my fp loan in May this year as my wife was made redundent, firstplus was very keen to help make the payments for me and i just had to fill out the forms and that was it.

It was only till recently i have found a letter stating that my wife was not covered on the loan, so i phoned fp Dublin and first asked who arranged the ppi on the loan, they said "firstplus in cardiff" which is a lie cause the letter i have found is from a broker. Then i told them my letter stated my wife was not covered on the loan so why did they make the payments for me. The women sai "in 2007 fp changed the terms of my insurence to cover myself and my wife" can they do this without informing you?

In june next year i am due my cash back £14,449 does anyone think they payed out just to stop them paying my cash back?

    Hello and welcome.

I think personally they should have made sure with both you and your wife with this first to make sure anyway that you both agreed with it.

Hopefully someone with knowledge of these issues will post up shortly with some help and info for you.

However, you do have the right to complain on this if your not happy with the way this have been dealt with, basically without your permission, as I assumed that both you and your wife would have had to have signed.

If you want to write to them about this, and if they do not resolve this by 8 weeks, your entitled to take this matter up with the financial ombudsman service (FOS).

I hope you receive other opinions on this as well, good luck.;)

    Thanks for your reply di3004.

I have phoned fp cardiff today to ask if it was true that they changed the terms of my ppi policy in 2007 as fp dublin told me. They said "they cannot change any terms on the insurence it is down to fp Dublin", so it looks that they have told me one big lie and i am not happy about this. Has anyone got any advice on what to do next.

    Your welcome.;)

I would contact the Financial ombudsman service (FOS) if your not happy with this matter and ask if they will write to them on your behalf, just explain your situation and they should be able to deal with this on your behalf.

Maybe someone will have some advice on this matter for you, but otherwise maybe your best option would be is to contact the FOS, good luck and please let us know how you get on.
