BT Rental Fee's.

Hi all just been looking at my online bill have changed the date of there rental charge's?

As i got charged from the 1st-8th November Charges up to bill date for Unlimited Evening and Weekend Plan includes line rental and UK Evening and Weekend calls £3.99 then from the 9th November - 8th February Charges in advance for Unlimited Evening and Weekend Plan includes line rental and UK Evening and Weekend calls £46.35.

Then 1st-8th Novemeber New Charges for Calling Plans - Friends and Family Mobile £0.39 -- 9th Novemeber - 8th February Charges in advance for Calling Plans - Friends and Family Mobile £4.50.

I am on a 12 month contract so i get discount's to cover up the other's 09 Nov - 08 Feb Credit for inclusive UK Evening and Weekend Calls and Friends and Family Mobile for 12 months £-13.35

Making my total montly line rental £12.50

So basically it's 2 question's why the hell am i getting charged from the 1st to the 8th of november for those charge's of £0.39 and £3.99 have they changed the billing cycle?

Also i like to know how i have to pay the £0.39 as it's in my call package and i have had no recduction to my 3.99 line rental charge's for 1st-8th novemeber.

I know we are just talking penny's but it's the point if they do this to everyone imagine how much they are making.

Also a quick question if i change to paperless billing how much would i save as i am considering changing to DD for my bill's saving me 4.50 quarterly.

Hopefully someone can understand this as it took me awhile to firgure this out so in total i am paying an extra £4.38.

Plus DD charge's (which i'll sort out before next bill) and whatever i would save on paperless billing i reckon i could save something like an extra £8 off my bill but that's a diffrent story i just wanna know what's the reason behind the 1st-8th charge.

Any help will be good :)!

Discussed in numerous threads before. BT is altering the billing periods for most subscribers so a one-off extra week or so is charged as the billing period is moved forward a week.

The main complaint appears to be that paper-free discount has not been properly applied to that extra few days.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

Thank's yeah i ended up paying about an extra £1 or so because they did not take that extra week in to consideration line rental reduce and the extra 39p that i got charged i know it's not alot of money just the point tbh.

Is it best to call BT of wait for the next bill?

If you multiply your £1 by say 5million customers (at a very conservative estimate) it suddenly becomes a lot of money!
I was charged an extra 83p.

    Hi Rocketronnie7,

I can understand your concern. The information Heinz has provided is correct. Due to a recent internal change within BT, our customers have been migrated on to a new billing platform and the extra few days rental is to align everyone to the new cycle. For example, I notice that on your post you have advised that you have been charged from 01/11/09 - 08/11/09. This is the extra rental I'm referring to and would like to make you aware that on your next bill there will be rental for 3 months only and the rental will begin 09/11/09 rather than 01/11/09.

Hope this helps. If you should need anything further you can email me at btcare@bt.com and I'll be more than happy to help.

    All the best,
