Silicone Cupcake Cases - Bargain Purchase

I am not sure of anyone is interested but I bought this book from the Book People and the book comes with 12 silicone cupcake cases. For £4.99 (not including P&P) I thought was a bargain since in Lakeland 8 cases alone cost £6.99.

Do you still put the cases in the 12 hole tray like the paper cases?
I have not bought any silicone bakeware yet, I did think about it but as you still need to put a metal tray under it is more washing up.

I bought silicone cake cases - 8 for about £1.30 at b&m. I used them like a normal cake case and put them in bun trays. Didn't need to wash the tray as no spillages

In theory if you don't over fill the cases no cake mixture should "overflow" so any metal tin should remain clean.

As an aside, if you are one of the many Yankee Candle fans who likes the 'tarts', if you put them in a silicon muffin/cupcake case, it makes it much easier to swap over the 'flavours' in your burner. You can also put any wax left over from your jars into the cases and gently melt it to make your own tarts.
