Insulating a flat - Thermal Curtains or Extra Glazing?
Comments
-
extra plastic glazing will be better than any curtains. and i dont see why curtains would be any cheaper?
have you seen the price of lined curtains now?
also as to the work involved, if you need to put up another curtain rail into a concrete lintel, thatll be as much work as fitting the glazing.
My curtains were £15 a pair from an outlet store! :money: They are lined but not thermally, which will get done eventually. There is a very odd arrangement around the window which meant it was easiest to fix the pole into the plasterboard of the ceiling.I bought sheets of rigid plastic and attached them with strips of magnet.....
We had this when I was a child on old sash windows. Have you found this effective?Petrarch74 wrote: »As it was built in the sixties, it should have been built with a cavity, shouldnt it? From my understanding, cavitys were built into external walls in most houses after the 1920's, if this is the case you will see a regular brick pattern on the outside of the house (i.e. long brick, long brick, long brick), if not cavity, then it will be an irrgular pattern (i.e. long brick, short brick). Cavitys are easily filled with insulation such as our Rockwool EnergySaver.
I have no idea but the window reveals are very deep so it is possible, I think the metal window frames would still allow a lot of heat to escape. This is is a leasehold flat, and I would assume the entire building would have to be done at the same time? I have no control over what the freeholder/ management company do: been trying for three years to get the corridors cleaned! :rolleyes:Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0
