Lcd tv v tft monitor and computer

Hi
Been looking to get a Lcd-dvd combi for my son`s bedroom. Was looking at these as space is an issue.
But looks like i will have to pay £250+
Thinking would i be better off spending a bit more and buying a computer- with a tv card and a tft monitor- need to be able to wall mount it- and may be put the base unit under his bed? Do i need an areal to pick up tv on the computer? Also any ideas on cost.
