Help Needed: Been ripped off (KK Autosalvage AND 247spares.co.uk)

Hi there.

Firstly sorry for the long post.

I believe this is not the first time 247spares.co.uk or .com have been mentioned, for similar reasons as i'm about to discuss.

Basically I've been ripped off/left in the lurch out of pocket and pretty annoyed.

Here are the details in full.

I needed to buy a part for my girlfriends car (106). I needed the full hub and strut. I went to 247spares.co.uk and filled out a quote. Quickly I got an email reply, which stated a few things:

"£35.00 - 180 Day Guarantee - Next Day Delivery"
"Condition: Used
Additional Notes:
kk auto\'s offer this part with a 6 month guarantee and free next day delivery , if intereseted please call 01914691004 and ask for john , thank you"
Postage & Packaging for this order £FREE

TOTAL INCLUDING VAT + DEL = £40.25

Company Name: - KK Autosalvage
Tel: 447013109181

Shortly after that, I got a phonecall from KK Autosalvage discussing the exact same email, where I stated that I needed a 4 stud hub, complete strut, and also a driveshaft too. This was no problem, and they were having a few problems with their payments(couldnt take card) so I suggested paypal. They said they had maxed out their receiving limit, so we came to the conclusion of doing a bank payment(from online banking).

I spoke to my girlfriend who did this, for a total of £80.10 which was the original cost, plus the cost for the driveshaft. They confirmed this was received, and they would send the parts out next day. Next day came, no parts(I rang early on in the morning, and they said they would definately be there the next day. They arrived the next day.. BUT it was the wrong part, they sent a 3 stud hub, which is incorrect and not the 4 stud one I asked for. To confirm, i've checked and for the year and engine size I specified they don't even do a 3 stud for, so there is no confusion.

I rang up, and spoke to wayne. who was another contact at KK Auto Salvage. He said OK No problem, as if he knew that it was the wrong part already, and said he would organise someone to collect it, and refund the money, and he would ring later that day to confirm when. That call never came.

I rang the following day, the number they had given: 01914691004 another number they had rang me from: 07013109181 but the numbers werent active. I kept trying for a few days at various different times, and it was exactly the same. I managed to get one further listed number for them too, which was the same problem.. not good.

So, I went back to 247spares and put in a complaint on their website, I waited about 2 days, No reply, so i tried ringing them on the number they had listed 08713456247.

This went around the normal process of no one being able to answer my call(automated) and I was basically on hold for 30 mins, didnt get to speak to anyone so hung up. I tried again later, no luck. I kept trying throughout the next week, and was on hold for a total of 3 hours and 35 minutes and STILL hadnt got to speak to anyone what so ever. I pretty much gave up hope. I filled in more complains (now 4 in total) on their website, leaving my works number and my mobile number) Both are on 247 and both have answerphone.

Still nothing. I gave it about a week, and by chance thought about ringing 247spares. I rang their number again: 08713456247 and got through within about 30 seconds. I was shocked. I spoke to someone who said her name was Claire.

She told me, it wasnt their problem, and that it was KK Autosalvages problem, I told them they werent answering and then she said I need to make a complaint through their website. I said to her I had now done this about 4 times, in which her reply was along the lines of: "if you had done a complaint, someone would have spoken to you, I know this because I organise it, and someone would have spoke to you". I explained that I had heard nothing at all, and she said, maybe I didnt answer my phone, to which my reply was, I've had no missed calls, no answer phones, nothing for either my work or mobile. She said, do it again, began getting rude and then Hung up. Ringing back produced the same problem of being on automated hold. Ive tried various times. no luck. I put in numerous more complains online listing my mobile and work number and multiple email addresses. I have been ignored every time.

So now Im £80.10 out of pocket for the parts, and My phone bill has come through very high due to the calling cost of 9p per minute to their number(which is more on mobiles) so im pretty sure I've been scammed!!!

Is 247spares.co.uk a scam?

I rang trading standards and told them everything, who said send them (KK AutoSalvage) a letter stating sale of goods act etc, and send it recorded. I did, and had this returned by royal mail, who say they are no longer in business. GREAT...

So what can I do?

Where do I go from here? I cant see any listing of them going into administration so cant get my money back. Any ideas please? Sorry for the long post

Sorry to hear about your problems. If they are not in business, it usually says liquidated at the Companies House webcheck listing. If that is the case, there is probably not much you can do other than be listed as a creditor. You could write recorded delivery to the directors address but he would probably ignore that.

I would however go on every review site you can find and post a negative review about 247 spares and K and K auto salvage - review centre, blagger.com, to name a couple.

I have a almost identical story.

Did you ever get a refund from them?

From a legal perspective, I wonder who your contract is with - the salvage company or the broker? 247spares clearly don't believe it's their problem, but surely a broker wouldn't be doing a very good job if they put people in touch with rubbish companies all the time? Do any other posters know about the legal responsibilites of brokers?

Not trying to add insult to injury (honest!) but I used The Parts Gateway (https://www.partsgateway.co.uk) recently when I needed a new wing mirror. Very happy with the service but then perhaps I got lucky with the garage that they put me in touch with.

  • They are now trading under the name Clarke and Harris.

They are using the same Address and Telephone number.

The new Coampny Number is: 07019757

These guys are pure evil, I've been screwed to the tune of £400.

I have all company information on Clarke and Harris, these guys are using their own kids on the records as directors and it does not mention anything regarding the criminals themselves.

I had been through the County Courts and successfully pleaded my case, the bailiffs were sent around and were given excuse after excuse until they finally said that they cannot pursue the matter, as they have changed trading names.

I will send you all the information I've got in the .PDF from companieshouse.

I'm currently looking at alternative routes, I've been to see the Citizens Advice Bureau and I was kindly pointed towards Customer Advice who told me to check out if they have the same Company Number, which isn't the case, as they are different.

I'm now going to go to the solicitors and see what happens.

I've had enough of these criminals (I'm being nice there aswell).

The bailiffs suggested that I wasn't the only one after them, as they have done it to countless others and that the particular bailiff on my case was doing the rounds all morning and afternoon, everyday and got nothing from them but excuses, such as the owner isn't here, etc.

If you have any further routes that can be explored, please let me know, I'll be happy to share what I have with you.

We have got to stop these guys from doing it to others, the amount of stress this has brought on me, is unbelievable.

Office of Fair Trading and The Gateshead Court have been informed about this matter, so has the Cateshead council, I'm not sure what they will do, if anything, but the more pressure, the better.

You won't get anywhere with 24/7 spare parts for a start as they only act as an introducer you have no contract them. Its no different to using yell.com and then trying to sue them when the plumber/electrician/facepainter or what ever screws up.

As for the other company did you take them to small claims court if you have their address??
Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.
  • Had a problem as well, wrong engine came (triple confirmed it was right), breaker (through 24/7 spares) were very unhelpful/initially refused refund till engine returned.
Complained, 24/7 removed them from their list, got to keep engine sent as well.
    Refunded AND sold engine on.
  • Hi,

I have a similar issue with 247 spares. They sent me a quote for an engine from a company called K M Automotive (UK) Ltd. I paid them in full as requested and no engine. Have been chasing them daily but they dont even pick up their phone. Went to register a complaint with 247 on their website but asks for a reference no which they did not supply in ther original quote. Rang 247's premium line where they kept me waiting for an hour after which they cut me off. This company is a rip off - BE WARNED - do not deal with 247 spares as you cannot get hold of anyone, there is no email or contact infrmation on their website - which reputable company does not provide a means to complain.

Also do not ever deal with KM Automotive (UK) Ltd. Have a look at their reviews on yell.com to see the horror stories. just search google for "KM Automotive and yell" They are a rip off and will take yor money and not deliver the goods. You can email me on jsxxxxjs@aol.com to find out more
