Self build... good idea?

Hey guys, i'm not new to forums, read for a long time. Just new to register 
Anyway thought i'd ask here seeing as you lot seem to know. My partner and I we're looking for house in our area and came across
basically its a 3 bed detached in mitcham for 270,000!!!

I never thought of self build as I don't have much time for building own house, but I've spoken to someone there and they reckon this can be built and done in a few months with little effort from me and well... I like alot!
So i thought i phone a friend see what your views are on this :money:
Value seems amazing for the area, has anyone built a house with these people before, any tips that could help at all??

I think it's impossible to buy land and pay for the build with it being project managed and subcontracted out for £200,000. Unless that company is a charity.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.
