In the forum context it's replying to your own post in order to bump it up and get people's attention.

I didn't think it had to be replying to your own post? I've certainly seen people other than the OP post along the lines of 'just bumping this', eg to bring an Old Style Meet thread back onto the first page of the board.Signature removed for peace of mind0

Bringing up my post
When a post is replied to, it comes to the top of the forum. But if there aren't any replies it falls off the page. Bumping is bringing it back up to the top to ensure answers.0 -
