    what can i do
    Hi,
I have lived in my house for 6 years. (Private landlord)

My rent was £450 which he just put up to £550.

We had to give up work 6 years ago. Not because we wanted to but our daughter has aspergers, torres, and ADHD. None of our child minders would stick it out.

Back to the rent - when it was £450 we had to pay a top up of £68, so when he put the rent up I had to fill in a change of circumstances form.

Now we live in a 4 bedroom house and have 5 kids 15 boy, 11 girl, 7 girl, 5 boy, 2 girl. The 11 year old is the one with all the things wrong it’s a shame for her.

I filled in the form to say my landlord put the rent up.

I have waited 9 weeks to hear back only to be told I will have to pay a top up of £135. Now there is no way I can afford this we only get £300 tax credit £70 child benefit and £8 income support.

I pay £95 a week in electric and I really do the house is freezing all the time only single pane windows. I have had the meter checked lots of times I have no charges at all on it and 4 days ago when I complained again I was told there was nothing wrong with it.

So how on earth does the rent office think I can pay this top up we live in what is meant to be a wealthy town everything is so expensive?
I know people who live in a one bed house and get £380 in rent paid for them they have no kids at all.

I will appeal but in the meantime can my landlord throw us out if I refuse to pay all the top up its going to be either pay this or no food I have to think of my kids can anyone give me any advice about this?

    (i was bored :rotfl:)

The way LHA works is that they calculate the entitlement based on number of rooms you need and the benefit gives you the average rent in your area.

You should be entitled to a 4 bed, so the fact that the LHA doesn't cover all the rent means you are choosing to live in quite an expensive rental for your area.

The answer is to find a cheaper 4 bed to rent. At the same time look for one with double glazing and insulation and reduce your electric bill. £95 a week is ridiculous.

Even with your 11 year olds problems, she should be at school all day, so I don't really see why at least one of you can't get a job.
