  • Regardless of whether you missed their emails & phone messages - if you knew you were going to be miss the deadline, it was really your responsibility to let them know, and keep them informed of exactly what's happening with the job. I think everyone in business accepts that sometimes things happen outside your control that impact on deadlines, but what makes the situation 100% worse is not knowing what's happening, whether it's going to be 6 weeks late or 6 months late or even appear at all. I might forgive a supplier for being late, but I would never forgive him for not keeping me informed. Also, in todays climate, if someone doesn't respond to emails and messages, I would start to suspect that the company was in financial trouble.

    To be honest, I think you're lucky to have received 50% in this case.
