Seriously the picture quality and connectivity is the best I have seen.
So if you are looking for a true Home Cinema, this would be my best buy.As Futureproof as you can get and Great for presentations too
For even bigger than 70", You could buy this PCW sku 568518 for £600 and put up a white sheetMoi....?

LOL you'll have to buy a house just for the telly soon ;D ;D0 -
Scat is this not the one they have on display that is playing Hi-Definition? If it is, we looked at that very one before Christmas because we were amazed at the quality. The problem is, there aren't any Hi-Def programmes being broadcast at the mo and Sky don't plan to do so for 2 years. Can't wait though because it is truly amazing picture quality.
NixI'm only smiling coz I don't know what's going on0 -
I bought a 40" thompson rear proj tv just over a year ago for £900 and the quality is fantastic. this is a great price for a 50" one.0

I looked at this TV in Comet about a month ago. It was running a HD demo from a plugin box and the picture did look wonderful.
I asked for it to be switched to the onboard analogue tuner and saw the same rolling demo that the other screens were showing and the picture was pretty awful.
The staff were unable to demonstrate the picture with a digital receiver or a DVD.
I want to see HD broadcasts actually working before I part with this kind of money.0 -
Personally, I wouldn't spend large amounts at the present time as things are uncertain. With the likes of Sony and Toshiba not seeing much future in plasma based technology and uncertainty over Sky and their approach to HDTV I would go for a good mid range rear projection to last me 18 months or so ... in fact, I just did that and got a fab 42WT29 Toshiba 42" freeview/surround TV for £700. Superb in every way. Never a day goes by when I don't just think WOW, great picture!
Re the Sagem (great RP HD TV) see:

For those that prefer plasma, Tiny.com are doing a 50" panel for not a great deal more than this rear-projection TV - See the following at £2599:

I am tempted by this but spending something so much on an item that is not on show anywhere does concern me greatly (the shops they use only seem to stock the 42" models). It would be brilliant if a home cinema magazine would provide an unbiased review on one, but thus far the only comments I can find on seem to be from Panasonic devotees who have almost certainly never seen the 50" version.0 -
Just to boast I just ordered a 43 inch widescreen 100hz rpjtv from currys , £634 in del , thanks to you guys.
As for hd tv guys how long has 16-9 been getting transmitted in the uk , and less than 20 percent of main programming is using it , and someone is asking about hdtv.
Save your hdtv cash , its not any good for a at least 4 years and if its like widescreen youll have very little to watch.Anyway youll proably renew in 4 years , and maybe by then it will be more adopted than "a true" widescreen output by the tvcos.0
