    Have you tried http://www.quickzip.org/

I use it to unzip files, no spy or viruses I have found on it.

I tried a rar file before and it worked for me.

  • I've been using trial versions of winrar for several years now. It only prompts me to buy it if I open winrar. If I just right-click a rar file and choose extract files or extract here it just gets on with it without any prompts to upgrade

Winrar is one of the few utilities I haven't minded paying for. The range of files it can deal with is worth the small price to me :)

7zip or TugZip are two of the best free archiving programs about.

I personally use TugZip of the two. Both support virtually every archive file type imaginable.

I'd just like to put a word in for FilZip, an excellent free Zip program. And as for WinRar, it's shareware, and a lot of shareware will carry on working after it's trial period. However, you should either stop using it or buy it after the trial period is over, strictly speaking it's illegal to use the software after the trial period (although I very much doubt a case has ever gone to court).
