Why is it so hard to stop buying papers & magazines?

Hello SCW1,
A few years ago...when I was financially a bit dim...lol
I used to buy Gardening magazines (two or three a month), Trout Fishing magazines (two per month), MGB & Sports Car magazines (two per month) as well as newspapers daily and on Sunday - phew...
The cost of these things is astronomic when you add it up over a year
...then I saw the light... halleluja (sp?) lol.
I now share a weekly gardening newspaper (Garden News - very, very good) with one of my elderly near neighbours - she buys it for £1.50, reads it and then gives it to me - how wonderful is that... lol.
In return I mow her front lawn - wey hey...
Could you do something similar?
