CC Juggling? >Breast Augmentation

Hello,

Bit of juggling here so am looking for experiences from others;

MBNA Credit card; £5800 limit, £3300 balance
Current Account; £4200 balance

What I'm proposing to do is to pay the CC off in full next week. Then I intend to balance transfer £5000 back from the CC to my current account. And then use the current account to pay for the op. I believe MBNA are doing 0% for 9 months on BTs?

The purpose of this is to fund breast augmentation. I could pay for this straight out of my current account now, but it seems sensible to get a 0% transfer back. I did have another operation a few months ago for £1500 which I paid for (stupidly) straight onto my CC and it has pushed the interest up a bit.

Does this sound feasible what I'm proposing? I'm obviously asking this as if it can't be done then I'll have another rethink on how money is going to move about.

Thanks kindly for replies,

Aly x

    Hi

I doubt you will get 0% from MBNA for 9 months if you are an existing customer. These offers are usually only for new customers. Last offer I had as an exisitng customer was 1.9% for 6 months with £50 fee.

Maybe you should check before you go ahead.

    I see two problems:
    1. 0% offer is for new customers and 9 months are from the date your account is opened 2. 3% fee on balance transfers.

Pay off the CC, open a savings account, set up a standing order from your current account and wait until you have enough saved up. By then you might realise you're beautiful the way you are!

Why pay interest when you can earn it?

Some hospitals have their own finance with 0% interest for 6 or 12 months; it may be worth asking for an all in quote from your care provider to see what options they may have.

This is from the BMI group

    http://www.bmihealthcare.co.uk/selfpayschemes.cfm

Treatment in a BMI hospital offers you exceptional value for money. Our ongoing, independent survey shows that over 91% of our self-pay patients say that we meet or exceed their expectations in terms of value for money.

Payment can be made by credit card, debit card, BMI Card*, bankers draft, Building Society cheque or personal cheque. Many hospitals also accept cash payments. We ask you to pay for your Option package on or before admission. In the case of personal cheques we need to receive your payment at least five working days before your admission to hospital.

*The BMI Card, our own payment card, offers up to six months interest free credit for health care purchases, provided you are a cardholder before treatment commences. You normally need to allow three weeks before admission to process your application.

Click here for full details and terms and conditions of the BMI Card.

    Good luck
