Train from Gatwick airport ???

I will be staying (for a night) in East Croydon (near Whitgift centre) and I was wondering the the best way to get there from the airport?

Also, any sales/discount codes for the train?

Thanks in advance

Train is the way to go - apart from hiring a car/taxi I'm not sure any other way exists

Tickets start at £3 one way (advance purchase for specific train on Southern's website) through £3.70/£4.30 (off peak walk on fare on Southern - not sure what the difference is, maybe direction of travel), £5.50 (anytime fare on FCC) to £7 (anytime fare any operator)
