EU laws on holiday chalet parks

Hi all, I currently pay full Band A council tax with 10% second home discount, full electric and water rates from Anglian water and Southern Electric.
But my holiday chalet park will only open from March to October although they do have an all year licence to open.
I have heard that due to EU laws the chalet park must open to me and others in my situation as I do pay full rates as explained above.

My Question is has these laws come in to force yet? and if so where can I print off the relevant information?

I look forward to your replies!!

Thanks, Richard...

  • eh? Please explain more. What's your situation?
  • I currently live at home with my parents, and would like to move to Mablethorpe ideally in to the chalet.

I wouldn't think that the councilling charging you council tax would mean you could force a holiday park to open their doors all year.

You may be able to claim back the months on the council tax that it is unoccupied.

your electric & water are not rates

presumably you bought a holiday chalet on the holiday park, knowing full well when their opening periods are
& now you want to move into it full-time, which is likely not allowed by your contract

possibly right and OP could need a place around mid jan till march 1st (as many parks close for "maintainence" period . OP often you can go onto the park during daytime often around 8 am till 6 but cannot stay on site overnight. we have a static park by me that has this rule and i know people sleeping through the day then spending the night driving to friends for evening (cuppa and a cake) then a few hours in the local 24hr supermarket and a coffee at 24hr motorway service station then back to their chalet/van for a daytime sleep (only lasts 6 weeks )

Hence on a Sunday when most of the DIY shops are closed, A nother good idear from them!!

the site owners have alot to gain by making the site (non permenant) residents rights . full owners club etc. you can get discounts of up to 50% on council tax (in wales) but check your local council and dont rely on the say so of the site owners i have a static in wales and people are there 46 weeks and off for six most go to relatives or sunnier places but short of a serch of their chalets/vans im sure people stay there 52 weeks

Think im saying if you own a holiday chalet and its not your permanent residence you are entitled to a reduction of up to 50% (in Wales)off the band (normally A) england has a similar but not the same ruling
look up the link above a see where you are
