!!!!!!, four days to change an indicator stalk and job is botched! How much did you end up paying them? Did you get a quote from a franchised dealer?

Seems that is the risk you take when using a back street garage?

Nah, it's the risk of using incompetent garages.

Four days to fit an indicator stalk? For £30? And still they get it wrong?

Don’t think I’d be going there again.

OP……. I think airbag faults are stored, so you have to fix the fault and then reset the ecu. Might be worth a google or a call to a VAG specialist

Update: I've paid half the money (£15) they quoted, and the remaining £15 to be paid after they've sorted the airbag light.

    You've done what?

I wouldn't have paid them anything unless they had completed the job properly.
If they insisted on payment before releaseing the car to you I would have clearly marked the invoice "paid under protest"
It could end costing you a lot more than £30 to rectify the fault they have now created, especially if you end up having to take it to the VAG main dealer.

  • If the Airbag light is on it means that they have introduced a fault into the system during the repair. They may have simply disconnected the airbag in the steering wheel and plugged it back in after the work. Any good garage would know that you need to reset the Airbag after you disturb the system. Removing the Battery + would have disabled the SRS and (providing they plugged everything back in) when they reconnected the battery all should have been good.
