I wanna: car to seat up to 7

The C4 Picasso is quite a large car, Ford S-max size. From what I've read, prices should be in the region of £17-20k. Wait 6 months or so & no doubt Citroen will be doing their usual cashback deals.0

We've got a VW Touran, and it's the first car we've had that I've loved, as opposed to just being a car that gets me from A to B.
With the back 2 seats down my St. Bernard dog can comfortably lie down in the boot. At a push he can go in with someone on one of the very back seats. We use a solid boot liner to keep the back clean, so you can just pull that out, put the seats up and you are ready to go.
We've taken the middle seat out of the middle row as well as we rarely need all 3 of them. We either use the middle space for the VW cooler box, or have the outer seats on the other setting so they have more room.
It has a ridiculous amount of storage compartments, there is no excuse for clutter in the car! Plus virtually every surface has an air bag, and it is one of the safest cars around. (Oh, another consideration, the very back seats are well protected as well, so if the car ever gets rear ended, the passengers (or dog) at the back, should be safe.)
I test drove loads of cars before we got this one, I can't remember them all, but I hated the Zafira, I never felt like I was in control of the car. I'm quite short and I had to have the seat right forward and then my arm kept catching on the gear lever. With the Picasso it had this weird wave effect dashboard and I couldn't see over it at all!
I tried a Sharan and Galaxy as well, but we didn't need that much room, and it felt like driving a mini-bus. When we go away and we need the back seats I hire a roofbox. (I bought VW roof bars). It costs about £20 for the week from a local place. You can buy them pretty cheaply, but we don't have anywhere to store one, and we only use it a couple of times a year, so I'm happy to pay for the convenience.
I couldn't tell you about fuel economy, power etc, that's OH's domain, but he's happy with it too, it's a Diesel and it seems very economical to run, but I don't have any figures to back that up.When I had my loft converted back into a loft, the neighbours came around and scoffed, and called me retro.0 -
If you're on a buget the Hyundai Trajet is worth a look. We have bought one for our rapidly expanding family and whilst it may not be the most stylish or refined vehicle out there, there is plenty of room for all of us plus luggage.0

There are 7 in my family and I have had a range of 7 seaters - Vauxhall Zafira - OK if you don't always need the back 2 seats - very awkward if using them for little ones (can't put them in easy). Ford Galaxy/Seat Alhambra - OK nice cars (Alhambra) cheaper than Galaxy, don't know why tho cos same car!. Boot size not very big, but OK. Kia Sedona - excellent for loads of people and with in-car entertainment!. DVD player in roof!. Sliding back doors excellent for getting out in car parks for the kids. Only probs with it, is it's a gas guzzler - 2.6 for Petrol and 2.9 for Diesel, but overall a better car and cheaper to buy new!. If you're a nervous parker it's bad for car parks but as it's built like a tank - you don't have any worries!
Hope this info helps - rsaz.Titch0 -
I have a zafira which is great when the 5 of us go on holidays.
However would not be suitable for 7 with luggage as the boot is tiny when the 7 seats are used.Money SPENDING Expert0 -
