Room thermostat - how much to fit?

I'm due to complete on my first house next week (wahey - thanks for all your help so far:beer:). Another question for you, if you may.....
The house has a Worcester Junior 24i boiler (not brand new - probably a few years old). Do you think there might be the potential to retrofit a programmable room thermostat, as recommended in the EPC report?
If so, how much do you think it might cost to install - and do I need to get a qualified plumber to do the job (I am possibly the least 'handy' or practical person there is, and am pricing up initial jobs!!).
Many thanks,
CW

Get moved in and find out how well the system works and what its weak points are first. Thermostatic rad valves are a good move, if the place doesn't have them already and if you can resist the temptation to whack them from one end stop to the other as it gets too hot or too coldHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Thanks for your reply.
The radiators all have TRVs - I'll try that for now. It may take a while for me to work out how to get the heating to come on twice a day though!!0 -
You need an electrician to do that job-a wireless 'stat will be the best option as you won't have to mess up the decorations to cable it back to the boiler control unit.
But remember that you will need to remove the TRV in the room in which you install the room 'stat. No free lunch, and no free laptop

You may or may not have a timer already, sometimes they are hidden in the boiler casing. A lot depends on your system - if it is a pure combi a timer thermostat may be adequate, but if you have a storage cylinder, you will want a separate 2 channel timer and a thermostatColliewobble wrote: »Thanks for your reply.
