Ford Sierra RS Cosworth
Options
Hey everyone,
I'm in need of some advice, a friend of mine has a Ford Sierra RS Cosworth and has asked me to advertise it on their behalf, with the incentive of keeping any profit over a certain amount. He doesn't have internet access and thought I could do it for him.
The car in in great condition except it needs some work to the rear wheel arches (that's all I know). He didn't want to get loads of viewers from cosworth groups that would expect it to be A1. It is apart from the arches.
Where would be best to advertise it, I've ruled out any cosworth sites?
Also it has a private number plate, he said it goes with the car. It is B3 SKL. would this be best sold seperstely? is there any value to it? how would I go about this?
Any ideas would be great, hope to hear from you all soon
Many thanks
the spec is...

There is this one on autotrader
http://atsearch.autotrader.co.uk/WWW/CARS_popup.asp?modelexact=1&lid=search_used_cars_full&make=FORD&model=SIERRA&variant=cosworth&keywords=&min_pr=500&max_pr=10000&mileage=&agerange=&postcode=bd20+6rd&miles=1500&max_records=50&source=0&photo=1&sort=3&ukcarsearch_full=SEARCH&start=9&distance=164&adcategory=CARS&channel=CARS&id=200621100229336
£5195
This looks to be an excellent example though.
You may end up selling for £4-4.5K.
There will be a lot of interest on the RS owners clubs and a lot of people will want a car that needs a little work to do as this is where some enjoyment comes for enthusiasts.
I think you are shooting yourself in the foot amnd missing a large market by not advertising in that area.
Usual selling tips apply like if they want a test drive make sure they are insured to, don't leave them alone with the keys.
Make sure you are in the car before handing over keys for a test drive.
Have someone else with you incase a few people arrive with viewers.
Good luck.

I have just seen this one on eBay
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4643954580&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1
It might do well on there?
How would I find cosworth clubs? Had a quick search on google, but with no luck?
If I did do e Bay what would be best start price? do I put a reserve on? When it's sold how much would i be looking at paying in final fees?
Any help appreciated0 -
the clubs are much better in my experience, i had a xr4x4 and got twice the price of cars on ebay etc.0

Cosworth come under the Ford RS Owners club.

And I agree, you'd be foolish not to advertise it through them. Not only will you get a fair price, you can be sure that the car will be kept in good hands under an enthusiast.
Am I correct in saying it's the 4 door saloon version?
I say that due to the colour of moonstone blue. They are still sought after, but not as much as the 3 door hatchback, especially the RS500.
I hate to see genuine RS Fords go to butcher merchants,so let's hope it goes to someone who cares.

Autotader is worth a try, but you really should generate some attention via the dedicated internet enthusiast sites.
TBH, I reckon it'd be worth paying out £150 or whatever to have the rear arches sorted and then sell it in near A1 condition.Happy chappy0 -
