Anyone else experiencing this.
I got the normal green webpage appear, then logged in.
The next page says:
"There is a problem with this website's security certificate
The security certificate presented by this website has expired or is not yet valid
Security certificate problems may indicate an attempt to fool you or intercept any data you send to the server.
We recommend you close this webpage and do not continue to this website.
There are two options either to close or continue (but not recommended)"
Any advice as to that this is all about and anyone else found the same.
The Egg site was fine for me earlier in the day.

What is the address of the login page you are using?
The certificate of the login screen here - https://your.egg.com/security/customer/login.aspx has an expiration date of 24/04/2010
https://www.egg.com give an error because the certificate there is actually for new.egg.com
I don't get any errors about the date though.0 -
The address bar now comes in red. The first part is identical to yours but it continues with the following and all on one line -
URI=https://new.egg.com/customer/youraccounts
I don't know where you find the date you mentioned.
Do you know what I should do to clear it?
Clear cookies etc?0 -
Is your computer's date set correctly?0
-
Mary - If I click on the padlock on the right hand bottom corner of my screen, and then "View Certificate", I get the same expiry date as mr_fishbulb.".....where it is corrupt, purge it....."0
-
I'm also getting the same certificate date in 2010, and the address bar goes green, i.e. okay ... using IE8 on Vista.
Also certificates stated as okay by Google Chrome browser.0 -
Thanks everyone.
I just discovered the date on my computer for some obscure had gone
back to June 2002 and it was about 10 a.m.!!!
The computer did have a major blip 36 hours ago.
I have now found the padlock and can now see that the certificate date is the same as yours.
So, it's a great feeling when you've managed to fix a problem and can now see the Egg accounts, with a little help from some friends.
So, thanks everyone. Great help.0 -
Sounds like your internal PC battery (on the motherboard) is on the way out.If you are getting something like "checksum error, press F? to continue" on booting the PC then its gone!0
-
Yes. Not technical at all, but husband rebooted the computer and it took well over an hour to check through all files etc. It did start with press F......, so maybe in doing that it moved the clock back several years. So far today, it seems back to normal, so will bear in mind what you say about the internal battery.
Thanks for your suggestions.0 -
As brewerdave said the most likely cause is the internal battery as they have a limited life. If so the problem will come back and keep getting worse. It can cause problems as saved files will be tagged with the wrong date making older files look newer than more recent ones.
Some batteries are easy to replace as they are simply watch batteries. Here is an article that tells you the different types and what to do about each one:
