Hi Everyone PPI Question !!!!!

Hi I took out a loan with Leeds Building Society in Jan 06 for £7,000.
I went into my local branch to fill in the paperwork, when asked I declined PPI Insurance.
Last month i received a letter in accordance with the Consumer Credit Act and I was horrified to see every month "PPP premiums" being deducted.
I checked my carbon copy of the agreement and the PPI box is clearly NOT ticked as I expected as I declined PPI cover on the day. However the "original" copy I subsequently requested from leeds shows both the PPI box ticked AS WELL as a monthly premium amount, which was also missing from my copy.
I wrote to to Leeds requesting my PPI payments back (I didn't inform them of the discrepancies on the agreement forms at this stage), they have declined to refund my money.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated, many thanks in advance.

Hello there
I am reading more of these issues and I think you should keep on at them until they have resolved this.
I would take any photocopies you have to prove that you did not opt to take out PPI and the paperwork to show where you have been paying out on this, enclose them (do not send your originals in case you do not get them back) and tell them to reconsider, or you will take your complaint with the evidence you have to the financial ombudsman service (FOS).
If they do not resolve this for you, I'm sure the FOS will, it seems you do have a good strong case here.;)
Good luck, please keep us posted. The one and only "Dizzy Di"

Hi thanks for the advice!!
Im going to reply to Leeds Letter and make then aware that my copy of the agreement DOES NOT duplicate the information they have on file. Therefore I have to question the entirety of the credit agreement and it authenticity! I might even get the local branch to verify the copy I am sending incase they come back with any smart answers!!
I will keep you all posted on the next phase and wish me luck!!

Hi everyone
just thought i would post un update on my ppi scam with Leeds - I basically wrote to then enclosing a copy of my Credit Agreement with theirs and asked for a full explanation as to why their copy differed from mine - basically my form DID NOT have the PPI box ticked or a premium amount completed but funnily enough yip you guessed it on their copy but the box was ticked to request PPI and a monthly premium amount jotted on the form;
This is the jist of the response i have received: -
Upon a further review of your comments and in response to the administrative error which you have brought to our attention, all premiums have been refunded to your loan agreement, to give a new outstanding balance of £xxx.
Please accept my apologies for the inconvenience and distress this error must have caused you. The reason why your copies of the agreement forms have not been ticked is unclear. Once the loan application has been completed in the branch, the customer is given copies of Pages 1 and 3 of the agreement to keep and the originals are sent to Ikano for filing.
However, the monthly repayments of your agreement will continue and the monthly instalments will reduce to now the Payment Protection Insurance has been cancelled. The next payment is due on 23 December 2009, after that there will be 7 further payments of £xxx and then one final payment of £xxx.

can anyone please advise me on this they are basically reduing my current loan amount by the PPI payments i unknownely made - can they do this or can i not just receive a cheque in the post so i can lodge and spend as i wish!!
Also having spoken to someone on the phone they have continually urged me to deal with them direct and not to contact the Financial Ombudsman - do i smell a rat? they are keen for me to settle with them direct - as this info has been added to the form without my consent and also the fact it is not dated have i good grounds to receive all the PPI back plus the outstanding balance on the loan written off!??
any advice/info would be really appreciated as im unsure wat to do next.
