Late payment - have I lost my 0% offer?

This month I mistakenly paid my Virgin cc before the statement was generated - I then forgot to check the account until after the payment date and noticed a £12 late fee. After looking back at my bank statement I realised my error but now Im really worried that I've lost my 0% Balance Transfer deal.
Does anybody know if there is anything I can do?

You almost certainly will have lost it, and damaged your credit rating...both internally with MBNA and also externally with the CRAs.

The only thing you can do is to do what the 100s (1000s?) of other people asking the same question on here each year do and ring to beg them for forgiveness.

Best number to ring is 0800 783 1116 (customer loyalty) during office hours, where you can plead your case. Be apologetic, not confrontational, and offer to set up a minimum payment direct debit there and then.

It's obvious what you've done wrong, ie it's not that you haven't paid so much as you've paid too early...and that should be your stance.

    Good luck (you'll need it!).

Thanks for your help - I feel sick at the thought of this, I thought it was doing really well making a start at getting my debts paid off and straight away I feel like i've failed. Hopefully I will get an understanding person on the phone tomorrow - I have already set up the minimum direct debit as soon as I realised.

We did this on my Barclaycard earlier in the year, (paid the wrong card!) so I rang and begged and got my reduced interest rate deal back! OH set up a Direct Debit (standing order?) immediately after that so it goes through every month automatically!
Good luck getting the deal back, be polite and say you've now set up online payment to stop it happening again!
Thank you to everyone who posts comps! :A

Well I phoned Virgin and explained the situation & that I had already set up a d/d but they were having none of it. I was in asda at lunchtime and saw an offer for 12 months interest free on b/ts so I just applied for that and got accepted (I have even set up the d/d already). As soon as the balance transfer goes through I will be cancelling my Virgin card in case I ever need to take up one of their offers again.

    Thanks for the advice x

    Thanks for all your help

    Do something amazing. GIVE BLOOD.
  • If you look at your next statement you will find that you've been retrospectively charged interest at your "normal" APR - probably 20% ish.

It happened to me last year at this time - they will rob you and laugh in your face - MBNA are the lowest life form - Utterly morally bankrupt and unscrupulous - I suggest you quickly settle up - cut up the card and return it with best wishes

One late payment won't hurt your credit record, so you will be alright going forward. Just make sure you run a mile from these B@stards
