Hi All, I work in the NHS and have purchased a new laptop, I was told I could get a cheap version of office through the nhs, does anyone know how I can do this? Also, is it possible to use it on two laptops? Thanks

£8.95 - I would expect it to be one single user license.0 -

Quite why NHS staff get it at such a discount is just baffling. I guess the rest of us don't work for such a good cause...0

The licence is for 1 machine only and lasts untill you stop working for the NHS, it is in their T&C.Survey earnings total 2009 £417, 2010 £875, 2011 £5740

Nothing to stop your employer negotiating an enterprise agreement with MS (unless it is too small) as the NHS have done, nothing to do with MS doing them a special deal because they are a healthcare service. Pretty straightforward, bigger the employer, the more leverage and better deal they can get. So not rest of us don't work for such a good cause it's that the rest of us don't work for such a big employer. E.g. you get a huge discount for Office if you work for Tube Lines (London Underground maintainers)."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

My firm (about 7000 employees) has a scheme that lets us purchase MS office for under 20 quid... so do lots of other places0

IIRC the idea is that if you have a copy at work, you can use the same software at home for a nominal fee to cover the materials and p&p

So more staff are able to work from home. Part of the licence agreement is that the software must be returned upon leaving the employment of the NHS.
If you want the same ability to work from home then you should ask your boss for a laptop. If you're unhappy with the benefits you get from your employer, look for another one.0 -
The Home Use Program is available with pretty much any Microsoft volume licensing agreement (my company is only a few hundred employees). As pointed out above if you leave, or your employer's license lapses you are supposed to stop using the software.0
