You can't qualify for the motability scheme on the basis that due to mental health, you're unable to get out of your home. Many get lower rate mobility because they need supervision outside.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

if you cant leave your home what makes you think recieving HRM will enable you to do so? after all your "condition" wont allow you will it on certain points of your mood! ststech
it bugs bare me that because people say they cant leave the house due to their MH but think by getting HRM for the mobility scheme to get a car will enable them to go about daily living? ststech!
OP, you sound like you have a good understanding team of proffesionals behind you, who will back you up with reports. have your MH team tried CBT therapy, im about to undergo this and woundered if it does help in any shape or form?0 -
You actually can't claim mobility at all if you state on your form that your disability leaves you housebound. Mobility is getting around outside so if you don't go outside for whatever reason then you can't claim a benefit for help getting around outside.
You can claim if you need support when outside due to disability so people with agoraphobia and the like have to be very careful when wording DLA claim forms.0 -

I agree with your points, but what does ststech mean? I'm trying to say it outloud without waking the cat!
Edit: Ignore me, I've just seen the OP's username!
CBT can help with some MH conditions, especially those that in the absence of mental health issues would appear quite logical. Agoraphobia is one that is works well for - it helps you identify the issues you have with going out, and then looks at coping mechanisms to help you overcome the issues. However, it rarely addresses the underlying issues. It did not work for me, but my condition is pretty complex and I am too good at arguing a point rather than just accepting what I am told!Gone ... or have I?0 -
my mh team have tried different things medication and the only successfull thing was what they could only offer me short term was someone to take me out in his vehicle and we would try going a bit further each day but as soon as this stopped im back to square one if ii had transport and someone with me i could go about my daily duties and get out which i havent done in 5 yrs and to quote i have never tried for any kind of help in this way before only doing it know as i am 37 yrs old things arent getting better and mh team cannot resolve the problem and i am on a cocktail of drugs to try and control it but these have little or no effect so yes i would benefit from my own transport and someone to supewrvise me outdsoors as i have even tried driving and cannot certainly on my own i get to end of my road and have to come racing home in a right state....0

That is not grounds for HRM - the only MH grounds for HRM is if you have a severe mental impairment with severe behavioural problems and qualify for the highest rate of care component. Needing support is grounds for LRM.Gone ... or have I?0 -
You can't get HRM because you need access to a car. There is nothing to stop you saving up DLA and buying your own car.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked
