Not having done CeMap myself (I did FPC & MAQ), I am not able to comment directly on the content of CeMap. However, I would point out that, IMO, the subject matter is not rocket science.
Most people of reasonable intelligence should have no problems with getting qualified, with or without industry experience. Like everything else it is a case of putting the study time in.
As has been said on this forum many times before, the real education starts when you actually start doing the job.

If you can do maths and english you can cemap. it's ability to remember rather than brains.
You can get a revision diskwith sample exams to see what you think before you buy whole course.Debt free 4th April 2007.
New house. Bigger mortgage. MFWB after I have my buffer cash in place.0 -

Also remember that it is just one of the exams you will need. Mortgages just form part of the package. You then have more exams to cover the rest of it.
If it is a career in financial services you want then starting with mortgages is the most common route. However, CeMap alone is not enough for most employers.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. I don't agree with this statement one bit, whilst memory, maths and literacy is obviously essential, you are assessed in Cemap 2 & 3 on how you interpret varying principals and rules and how you would apply them in certain circumstances, and this is not always spelt out for you in the study material.
I myself have sat 2 & 3, I also hold FPC and found there were plenty of things in both exams that were not covered in the study material, so I think some industry experience is essential before sitting the exam.
To the OP good luck with your studies, we have recently seen the success of Zoeleigh on the boards who has sailed through Cemap in about 4-5 months, and passed each exam first time with at least a merit. Work hard and you will be OK, and I'm sure the other advisors on the board will agree with me here that if there's anything you are stuck on, post the question and we will all endeavour to help you.
Best of luck

4-5 months ????
Give me some credit!!!! I did the lot in 6 weeks and now can't get a job!!!
Seriously now, its not easy and does require plenty of studying. The questions are sometimes designed to put you off from what youve read in the study notes.
I've no financial services experience but I've committed myself to this industry and just need someone to give me a chance. If you're going to stalk me, while you're at it can you cut the grass, feed the dog & make sure I've got bread & milk in

passing the exam is easy. I did FP1 and 2 in 4 weeks. However, it takes another year or two for much of it to sink in and in many years after to really get used to it.
Most courses are there to get you through the exam and not actually teach you. Although many exams suffer that nowadays.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). @zoeleigh
Could you help out at your local CAB or equivalent orginisation in your area with financial matters. Perhaps you can gain some contacts that way and help others in need.

Not if it doesnt pay 18k plus !!
I gave my job up to study CeMAP full time and need a role quickly as I'm running out of cash. Already resigned to giving up my Kop season ticket at Anfield for next year. Now that is a big sacrifice!!If you're going to stalk me, while you're at it can you cut the grass, feed the dog & make sure I've got bread & milk in
