The £9 room Travelodge sale is on the 7 Jan. It is supposed to be starting 6am, but usually goes live before this before. It may be worth a look to see if there are any hotels with better transport links to Wembley and closer to London, if you can cancel the premier Inn booking. For example there is a train that runs from Marylebone to Wembley stadium (chiltern line) and takes 10 minutes. There is a TL beside Marylebone station. You would also have the benefit of being 10-15 mins walk from Marble Arch and beside the tube to visit London attractions. I would park up at a tube station like Stanmore for a couple of days and get the train in. Southwark is also a really nice new TL beside the station of the same name, 10 mins walk to Waterloo station and London Eye, Embankment and on the same line as Wembley Park is on so 30 min direct jouney to there. You may even be able to get cheap train or bus deals into London to save more than the cost of driving down. For example I just checked coach fares from Edinburgh to London for Fri 21/5 for 1 person and it is £1 fare (plus 50p booking fee) with megabus www.megabus.com. They do not currently have the scheduale for June up, but if you book as soon as available you may get this low piced fare (it is like plane fares that the more people book the more it goes up).

I have now changed hotel to Coxley Watford Premier Inn and cancelled the booking at South MImms, Am going to have a look at the Travellodge sale as may be planning to leave Edinburgh on the Friday and stay overnight somewhere between here and London. Will keep and eye on Megabus never knew they could be so resonable. Also am pricing trains but they do not have them as far as June we have a family rail card too.
Thanks for all the replies re this. Took them down to Manchester to see Greenday in October which was fine but have not been to Wembley since the 1990's before I even had kids! Finding it all a bit daunting but a promise is a promise!

Have a good time, I live close to the Premier Inn and Croxley Station, the station is about a 15 minute walk your hotel, the premier Inn is fairly good and has a bar.

Wembley stadium is really good, with good catering facilities, we are going there too, my two girls went to see them at Wembley Arena in November and said they were really good !
  • for my sins, I live in Wembley.

The Premier Inn in Wembley is 5 mins walk from the arena.

The Travelodge, Wembley is some distance (bus ride) away.

Don't stay in any of the b and bs locally - they're dire.

I know my friend stayed in the Travelodge Wembley for the last Muse gig at Wembely. She has booked Premier Inn this time for next Septembers gigs as the walk back to the Travelodge was very scary as Its in a very run down area and they walked past some run down industrial areas and did not feel safe.

Just thought Id mention this as they said if anyone in particular a lone female traveller was walking in that area they did not consider it to be safe.

Im not going to the Muse gigs next year but might get a last min ticket so will be watching the Travelodge sale Thursday - thanks for tip about Marylebone being on a direct train link - useful that!

Alisont I totally agree with what your friend has said about the TL as it is really in an area called Stonebridge which has a high crime rate. A friend whose son lives near there claims it is not the sort of area you would like to be out in after dark. The reviews seem to indicate that youths breaking into cars in the car park of the hotel is an ongoing problem.
