New home, New number ?

Hi, I have just moved into a new home and the old owner ported the home phone number. So I contacted BT and they have given me a new number, but they said that i have to take a 12 month contract with them and that if I cancel after the 14 day initial period that I have to pay a redemption of £7.50 for every month left on the contract.
I was hoping to use talk talk for phone and internet - but thats not going to be economical now - I Don't think.

Any thoughts ?

Need to look into the cheapest deals for Sky tv too - all very difficult to do without internet - having to borrow my mums internet for this msg !!

Yes, that the correct deal, 12m line rental for free connection.

Whether you got a new number or not from BT their would have still been a contract with a minimum term of 12 months.

You probaly could have gone direct to your preferred supplier both TT and Sky can connect/restart lines if they want to.
