it was late morning today so i dont think it was the fireworks
i wish it was, at least there would be a reason for it then. he was neutered just over a week ago and i mentioned that he was a complete psycho, she looked him over for fleas and mites and things but deemed him normal, on the surface at least!
when i dropped him off, all the nurses were cooing over the cute fluffyness (he is a balinese) but when i picked him up he was handed over with a curt "there you go, he's done" :rotfl:
probably 95% of the time he is a lovely cat, really cuddly, follows me around the house like my shadow, i play with him lots and he's never left on his own for longer than a afternoon. but then he will completely flip! i used to leave my sons bedroom door open so i could hear when he cried for me, but i had to shut it cos i realised he was jumping into his cot, and i only realised this when i found my poor baby boy with scratches on his cheeks and forehead!!
i could understand if the episodes always happened when he is being fussed over and decides he's had enough, thats fair enough, pretty much all cats do that, but he is completely unpredictable and unprovoked. so i thought maybe the feliway might chill these episodes out a bit but i couldnt work out if it was suitable for this kind of thing, cos it mostly says about fighting cats on their website. we are meant to be getting another kitten soon which we are rehoming, a dear little rescued hand reared tabby, so i will probably get a feliway for when he comes.
i have to say i have wondered if it is to do with diet as well, i did start a thread about hypoallergenic dry food and i'm currently trying to switch him to applaws to see if that works, cos last week when he'd only had egg and tuna after the anaesthetic he did two solid poos for the first time ever and was a lot calmer, so perhaps i will see an improvement when the switch to applaws is complete, if it agrees with him. who knows!
Well you have baffled me (if baffled is indeed a word lol). Let me know how you get on though I would be interested to see how his behaviour changes.

unfortunaltely there sounds like there maybe an unknow stress trigger near by. which may even be outside. for example cats maybe using ur garden without u even seeing them and he is diverting his aggression to u as u are near by and cant get to them outside.
im my opinion this is a behavioural issue, and something-however minor. is causing his stress. unfortunatley so many things stress cats out that u wouldnt even expect. cos even a glade plug in at cat level upsets thems, as it emits this 'horrible' odour and may go off right beside them.0 -
Do plug in's annoy cats? My cats don't mind mine at all.
My kitten is a bit like yours emlou, where he can be sitting next to you and the next second he's literally climbing walls, attacking the other cat and generally being a pita, he has never attacked anyone though, he hasn't even scratched me, even when I start rubbing his belly and annoying him trying to instigate a fight, he just licks me to death! Maybe it's because he has another cat to "play fight" with, that he doesn't do it to me? Though I must say when he sits on my lap and starts "plucking" me to death, it hurts like bobbins (why do they do that?)
You might find that once he has another cat friend, he won't attack you? Though, the poor thing might get a bite or two. Bless0 -
we dont have anything like that, and if it is cats outside then he is doing it when they arent there! when they are there he goes and looks and miaows at them, but as i said he is completely unpredictable. it makes me sad, cos i know this is supposed to be the kind of thing a mistreated cat does, but he has never been treated with anything other than love and care. too much of it probably! he blatantly isnt scared of anything, in fact he is a lairy and overconfident little sod if anything!
i'm going to see if the diet change comes off, and use the feliway as a last resort. its too expensive to be a long term option anyway!Mummy to

Maybe you could try something like clicker training? Some people claim it helps with bonding with the owner and can be used to discourage unwanted behaviours. No idea if it works myself, but as a clicker is only three quid or so (instructions free on YouTube!) it might be worth a shot?Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0
