    Hello,

Ive read this thread and I hope Sue doesnt mind me jumping on!

I have the latest statment for our leccy (Southern Electric)

I would like someone to explain it for me and to work out where we are using too much and if it is too expensive. It is an estimate and I always haveto phone with a reading, new statement not thru yet.

    According to this we use:

869 Units in day @ 8.32 pence per unit
    252.43 night @ 3.64 ppu

then it has another readingfor the day

    984 Units @ 9.16 ppu

They have also put Night energy -265 @ 2.63
    - 1246.43 @ 2.94

When I phoned with a new reading, again, they couldnt tell me my new balance for some reason, so i'm waiting for it to come in the post.

    What do you think?

    Ta,

    Mel

Do you have the correct bill before this i.e. the non-estimated one?
What were the new readings you gave them?

It looks like you've gone through some price rises given the negative units which they're adjusting.

If I understand it correctly, I make your bill about £125 ?

Hi Mel, dont mind you asking for help on this thread, its ok.
Can I just ask you why you have to ring with a meter reading? Its just that we get our meter read, and we still get sent estimated bills, Meter plus who read our meters, have the wrong serial number for one of our meters, this may be one of the reasons we are having thie dispute with Npower  Good luck with getting your bill sorted out.

    Thank-You,

I'm waiting for the new statement, the lady on the phone coudlnt tell me what the new balance was for some reason ?? It might of come today.

The new readings i gave were Rate 1 13643, rate 2 was 4142.

We have used £140.78 this invoice which inc vat and 2 lots of service charge.

    Sue,

We get our meter read and they still send estimates. I phone meterline which is automated but they always transfer me to an operator so I know i'm uptodate with readings. Our meter was read 15/6 at home.

    Thank-you so far!

Next to the - night energy they have given us CR £6.97 and CR £36.65

Mel, I would ask them why they send you an estimated bill when you know they have read your meter. Npower have tried to fob me off with lame excuses, but now I realise that its to do with meter plus having the wrong serial number, I've told them I want this sorted out, still waiting........

I told them that I always phone up with readings but they always send estimates, the dozy woman just apologised, didnt give an explanation.

    Day energy 869, ppu 8.32 amount 72.30
    Night energy 252.43 ppu 3.64 amount 9.19
    Day energy 984 ppu 9.16 amount 90.13

You have been charged for 1853 day units. There was a price rise during this period so you have paid for 869 units @ 8.32p and 984 @ 9.16p.

Your earlier night energy(E7)consumption was based, presumably. on estimated readings and these were well over-estimated. So you have been given a refund for 265 units @ 2.63p and 1264.43 @ 2.94. You have then been charged for 224 units @ 2.94p and 252.43 @ 3.64p.
( the fractions on 252.43 and 1246.43 are because they are calculated pro-rata - they don't record fractions of a unit normally)

    Thank-You,

I suppose its quite easy to understand when you think logically!

Ive also phoned up about my gas bill.

The last statement said we were in credit after I had given a reading. Now they have sent another statement saying we are using more Gas and we now have to pay £57 a month!!!!

SE have told me to phone back with a Meter reading and the serial number, they said a man came to read the meter a couple of weeks ago but human error often occurs. I hope this sorts itself out. Nightmare.

How can we be using too much gas when its hot and the heating isnt on ?!!

I phoned back with a reading and the meter serial number and it was all correct. We have to pay 51 quid a month. They said the previous amended bill may have had an incorrect reading on it as the reading was very low.
