Cheap vs. branded trainers?

I sometimes wear the same pair of shoes for a whole WEEK. And I've worn outdoor trainers in the gym. Deary me.0

How on earth can you not have at least two pairs if you want one for the gym and one for walking around? You are not one of these scabby people who wear outside shoes indoors in a gymnasium, are you? You like treading spit and vomit and dog filth all over the place?
Some people have no consideration.
And even if you don't care about such disgusting incivility no-one wears the same pair of shoes two days in a row anyway. Do you only go outside on alternative days?
This HAS to be a joke. And if it's not... well, I have an immense temptation to rub my 'scabby' shoe in your face as you'd probably run away screaming
As shellsuit says, I can think of loads of people who wear the same shoes the majority of time. The way you talk you'd think we were discussing wearing the same undies twice in a row.0 -
Do I get the prize for the oldest pair of trainers then? My one and only pair date I guess from the mid 1990s. I might wear them 5 or 6 times a year at most.
I have a pair of Chuck Taylor special edition all star baseball boots from 1991, same deal wear them about 5 times a year. The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. Terry Pratchett

A friend of mine has a pair of trainers that are older than me - I'm 20. (4 months off being 21)And I've worn outdoor trainers in the gym.
At the university gym, we've been told we're not allowed to do this - I assume it's because of mud and stuff.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

I will 'fess up first - I am a snob with some things - but trainers I am picky about purely because they go on my feet - I don't like taking chances with parts of me which are essential (eyes, teeth, feet) but vulnerable to penny pinching (obviously, I know there are some other pretty important parts, but you don't tend to have to buy things for them, other than food, which I try to be good with).
Skechers MBT style - brilliant for everyday use - lots of support, encourages good posture, very forgiving on joints, look kinda funky.
Normal Skechers - look lovely but pretty rubbish for support. OK for going out without lots of walking though.
Nike - make my feet smell. They never smell until they go in Nikes. Tend to be a bit wide and get manky/lose support on sides of feet very quickly.
Cheap Nikes - never - may as well buy from the market.
Reebok - used to be good, now seem very cheap and nasty. Limited arch support.
Vans - comfortable for daywear. Look good.
Converse - look great, no support. Would wear with insole and arch supports.
Adidas - Superstars - great. Classic. Use arch supports but side support brilliant for money. Gazelles - newer designs nasty. Climacool - great support, very light but can't wear outside. Good for gym though. Some other one with springy bits in - perfect for gym but look a bit technical.
Cheap Adidas. Look OK, good support throughout. Just not quite up to it for gym work
I usually spend about £50 - £120 on trainers.
DD1 has Vans, Converse, Adidas. DD2 has Nike and Skechers. She also had cheap ones bought by her Dad. After 3 days, they got relocated in the school PE kits because she didn't have to walk his dog in them, as they made her feet hurt and, with hypermobility, tend not to faff around with joints.
I agree dirty trainers in gyms are disgusting. Dirty trainers as a whole are yucky, but they seem worse in a gym. It's the dog mess, human sick and stuff that's on the pavement that gets me. But then, everyone takes their shoes off indoors at mine, and I have an indoor pair of light trainers for the kitchen/anything where I could drop heavy/sharp things on my feet.
Once you've experienced problems with your feet (or shinsplints - that really hurts) you try and do anything that will prevent it happening again.
Buy the most expensive that you can afford that offer the best support for you. Don't restrict yourself to £35 pairs if the only ones supportive enough are £65, your feet are too important.
Otherwise, you'll have a face like Posh Spice all the time.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll

I doubt whether Ann Driver would have tolerated grubby footwear during her "Music and Movement" broadcasts.
Back to basics. Understand a little less, give 'em a clout a little more.0
