Cheap vs. branded trainers?

Thanks for the recommendations. Did not realise (or think) that it's better to have 2 pairs.
How on earth can you not have at least two pairs if you want one for the gym and one for walking around? You are not one of these scabby people who wear outside shoes indoors in a gymnasium, are you? You like treading spit and vomit and dog filth all over the place?
Some people have no consideration.
And even if you don't care about such disgusting incivility no-one wears the same pair of shoes two days in a row anyway. Do you only go outside on alternative days?0 -

Can you come to my gym and tell the people on the treadmill/machines this for me please!:o The smell is so bad it makes me want to run away- its madness! You'd think common sense would apply and if not that, the smell would be enough to tell them "something is wrong here" !
Gym shoes: replace every 500 miles or 6-9 months for gym use if going 3 + times a week. Most regular keep-fit people do about 20 miles a week- this is about 3 or 4 hours a week if your doing general fitness...becomes 80 a month....see what I mean? adds up! Change those shoes regularly!0 -

No there wasn't, but if you read other posts by that person you will see they are quite rude and judgemental in most responses they give so I wouldn't take a great deal of notice.
Anyway to the initial question I find branded trainers to be of a better quality. If you are using them for a gym/training purpose then branded are better due to the advances in footwear technology they have taken into consideration and applied to there products.0 -
I ended up buying one pair of branded and one pair of cheap (well, Next) trainers. I've found the Next ones to be slightly more comfortable.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

Don't they?
How would you know what other people do?
What about people who have a certain footwear as a uniform and have to wear them every day for work?Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -
I wear the same shoes for two days in a row. (at one point had no choice - trainers had hole in and only had plimsolls with me) However, don't wear them all the time.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

You don't have to justify yourself.
You show me one person who has never ever ever worn the same footwear for 2 days and I'll show you a liar

But another important thing to remember is that trainers have a shelf life. The foam that the trainers are made from (on the sole) disintergrate over time. They "die" alot faster when in stores as the lighting, air conditioning and dust all add to the disintegration and basicly the result is a less supportive trainer. Fine if your just walking around in them, but not so good if you rely on them for sports and exercise. Make sure your trainers are not old and been in storage for years! (Happens in TK Maxx for example) unless your just wearing them fror day to day comfort.
Do I get the prize for the oldest pair of trainers then? My one and only pair date I guess from the mid 1990s. I might wear them 5 or 6 times a year at most.0
